Cairo, April 6 (IANS) Egypt‘s ruling military council has decided to form a committee to investigate into the wealth of former president Hosni Mubarak and his family.
The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces took the decision Tuesday after many complaints were filed against what was called the ‘unjustified swelling of Mubarak and his family’s wealth’, Xinhua reported citing MENA news agency.
The committee will issue measures to bar Mubarak and his family from accessing their bank accounts and assets.
Egypt froze the bank accounts of several former officials and their families Monday as part of the country’s anti-corruption campaign.
Caretaker Prime Minister Essam Sharaf has vowed to fight corruption to meet the demands of protesters.
