Enlightenment Now – Part 3 – Long Live God!

Posted by Admin on February 21, 2012

(Parts 1 and 2 can be found here)

God is dead. Long live God!”

It is a centuries-old European tradition that, when a King died, he was promptly replaced by his successor so that no vacuum of power came into existence. In the streets, the people heard both items of news at the same time, that the old king was dead and the new king had been crowned. They would then voice their support for the new king by shouting,

The king is dead. Long live the king!

In Part 2 of this course, we noted the fading away of the old image of God above us in the sky due to the growing awareness of the enormous size of the universe. After all, for the universe to be filled with the Creator’s omnipresent consciousness, the Creator has to be greater in size than the Creation.

It has taken time to let go of the general belief that we on Earth are the center of all Creation. Fortunately, while the old concept of God in the sky has faded away, the new concept of God within brings us so much closer to the Creator and all of Creation. It is therefore fair to say, “Long live the new, expanded concept of God!”

We are aspects of the one Creator, as are all things in existence. Better yet, as human beings, we are endowed with self-awareness, with the curiosity to learn new things, and also with one especially undervalued faculty – imagination.

The expression, “It’s only your imagination,” is one that belittles your greatest faculty. The true situation is revealed in another expression; “We were made in the image of God.” The word “image” here does not mean “looks like.” After all, it would be hard to envisage a Creator larger than its creation – the universe – having two arms and two legs. The word “image” really means that we were created in the imagination of the Creator.

Imagination is your one creative faculty.

It is imagination – the application of consciousness in a creative direction – which laid the plans for this entire universe. In Part 2 of this course, it was said that, for Creation to succeed, there had to be a way to separate original consciousness into two complementary aspects and then have them interact with each other.

Those two aspects were the principles of pure thought and pure feeling. As humans, this idea of thought separate from feeling can be difficult to grasp because, in our experience, thoughts and feelings are always intertwined. Step back, for a moment, from your human experience, move into the realm of the abstract, and look at the original Law of Creation:

Creation = Thought + Feeling + Action

Think of pure, original Thought as imagination, intellect or intention. Think of it as a concept similar to the plans that an architect makes for a great building.

Then, think of pure, original Feeling as the energy that preserves and protects life, or the energy that makes things grow. It is related to the human concept of attention, because ideas grow as they receive your attention.

In cosmic terms, pure thought is the force of expansion that makes the universe continue to grow. Pure feeling is the counter-balancing force of contraction that holds the speed of that expansion down to a controlled, pre-determined rate.

If you were to equate the Law of Creation to a human analogy, you could say that the Divine Father and the Divine Mother work in complementary action to create and preserve the universe. In the Christian tradition, these concepts are called the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit or Divine Mother aspect of Creation fills the universe with the divine love that holds the universe together and provides the energy for the growth of all forms of life.

Now, if someone tells you that love is in the air, now you can reply knowingly, “Yes, it is!” You just have to reach out and touch the love of that aspect of the Creator to know that you are made from love and that you are loved, now and for all time.

As humans, we have inherited the power to create. Granted, our field of influence is human-size instead of universe-size, but the principle remains the same.

In the human realm, the Law of Creation is best stated in this form:

Creation = Intention + Attention + Action

And that is the key to creating a better life!

Next week, we will discuss the keys to making this formula work successfully and effectively. Until then…

Enlightenment Now – Lesson 1

Posted by Admin on February 6, 2012

by Owen Waters

Welcome to the 7-part course, Enlightenment Now!

Enlightenment is a goal of all people, whether they realize it or not! If it’s not a conscious goal, then it’s an unconscious goal because enlightenment is something we are designed to achieve along the way to the ultimate stage of fulfillment.

The meaning of the word enlightenment is, literally, to add light to something. By adding light to your understanding of the nature of reality, you can gain an uncanny ability to master the challenges of life.

Once a person realizes that there is a spiritual dimension to reality, life’s mysteries are more easily explained. The workings of the universe are, in essence, simplicity itself. In fact, when you come to understand how this reality was created, it all boils down to one big, “Aha!”

Once you know the basic spiritual principles, life becomes remarkably easy because then it all makes sense! These basic principles add to your existing knowledge and your existing faith in the spiritual dimension of life.

As a dedicated spiritual researcher, I have come to realize that a new version of the science of metaphysics is needed as the bridge that will bring spirituality and science together. Let’s face it, the division between science and spirituality has gone on far too long. Today, people are becoming more enlightened and they expect spiritual teachings to explain the mysteries of the cosmos, just as they expect science to explain a lot more than just nuts-and-bolts materialism!

The meaning of the word metaphysics is the study of the nature of that which is beyond the physical. It is a science that deals with the mundane as well as with higher consciousness. Spirituality focuses on higher consciousness, but often relies on faith alone, without the support of the knowledge provided by metaphysics.

My focus has always been on the spiritual aspects of metaphysics so, in 2005, I decided to put the two words together and began using the term, spiritual metaphysics. This gives definition to a field of study that brings the light of understanding to spirituality and goes beyond basic metaphysics.

An all-inclusive definition of Spiritual Metaphysics has to include the ultimate consciousness which is behind all of Creation:

Spiritual Metaphysics defines the nature of reality based upon the all-pervasive consciousness which is behind Creation and all of its manifestations.

In this 7-week course, we will look closely at the all-pervasive consciousness which is behind Creation. We will see how Creation was achieved and learn new ways to apply this knowledge to our own lives.

We will see why change is so rampant in the world today, why everything seems to be speeding up, and how to apply that insight into gaining mastery of the emerging New Reality.

Next week, we will examine the cosmic scale of Creation and see what that means to our perception of the nature of God. Now that humanity has abandoned the idea that the Earth is the center of the universe, we are ready to appreciate the vastness of Creation and therefore the scale of its Creator. More importantly, we will also see why, paradoxically, we are actually closer to the presence of God than ever.

Until next week…

Spiritual Growth
by Owen Waters

Spiritual growth is the growing awareness of a higher level of consciousness.

A higher level of consciousness brings an expanded view of reality.

The more your view of reality expands, the more you are able to integrate any conflicting issues within yourself and claim the joy which is your natural birthright.

A Light in the Darkness

The 1920’s, the Roaring Twenties, ushered in the technologies of radio entertainment and movies with sound tracks. Before that, ‘the movies’ had been silent moving picture dramas with subtitles. Now, with the addition of sound, they became ‘the talkies.’

The new media of radio, as well as the newsreels that played before each movie, began providing people with new sources of information and entertainment. Henry Ford’s mass production of motor cars was creating a demand for the dirt roads of the day to be hard-covered with tarmac. Progressive towns began boasting that, as well as a hard-covered main street, they also had a traffic light!

TV was still twenty years into the future, but the telephone was becoming a fashion statement, especially when its use was demonstrated by glamorous starlets in the movies. With the separate earpiece held up to one ear, they would loudly and clearly intone the magic words, “Hello, calling long distance!” in order to be connected with their intended person through a relay of human telephone operators. In the movies, if not in real life, they always succeeded in getting through on the first attempt.

Meanwhile, the young adults of the day, such as the fashionable flappers, showed their newfound freedom from tradition by dancing ina style that reflected their sense of lightness and fun.

By 1931, however, storm clouds were gathering over America. On the one hand, construction of the Empire State building in New York City, the tallest building in the world to date, had just been completed. On the other hand, the economy was being dragged relentlessly down into ever-deeper depths. Bank failures were snowballing at a frightening pace as the economy collapsed inward upon itself, leading to unemployment rates in excess of 25%.

People became deeply anxious and were desperately searching for answers. Angry mobs began to listen to even angrier speakers, who sought political scapegoats to blame for their woes. Others, meanwhile, turned in the opposite direction, seeking solace from God.

It was into this economic and societal darkness that Emmet Fox (1886-1951) began speaking in the United States about a technique that he called The Golden Key to harmony and happiness.

Emmet Fox was a New Thought author who proclaimed that the Golden Key technique would get you, or anyone else, out of any difficulty. The technique was simplicity itself:

Stop thinking about the difficulty and, instead, think about God.

To achieve this, people were told to make a mental list of everything that they knew about God and to repeat those sentences in their heads until their attention had shifted entirely away from the difficulty and onto a focus upon God. They would repeat lists of statements, such as: God is omnipotent; God is love; God knows all; I am a child of God; God is present everywhere; God is truth; God is with me now; and so on.

Then, the person had to put the difficulty out of their mind until the next time that they saw fit to use the technique. Some difficulties were harder than others to resolve and required several Golden Key sessions.

From extensive experience, Emmet Fox knew, without a doubt, that if the Golden Key technique were done correctly, it would work every time. The problem was, back in those days, no one really understood exactly why it worked!

After all, people asked, how can you solve a problem by turning your back on it and thinking about something else? And, they wondered, why would it only work if you raised your consciousness high enough? Couldn’t God fix the problem regardless of how high you reached in your spiritual awareness? These were just some of the unanswered questions surrounding the mystery of the powerful and effective Golden Key technique.

Now, fast-forward to our current time period, and we find that the answers to such mysteries have become available. Better yet, we also have the knowledge and resources to greatly improve upon this original idea. The main lesson learned from this technique was this:

When you enter a higher state of consciousness, life’s challenges become transformed.

Problems become solved, almost as if by magic. Looking closer, you see that there are two ways that this magic happens.

1. Problem situations are energetically healed by the higher consciousness, or;

2. Solutions are seen and these solutions are energetically created in the superconscious mind. As you will see later, one of the functions of the superconscious mind or soul is to create new realities as intentional energy fields which will then unfold and manifest in your life.

Later, we will be discussing ways of reaching higher consciousness which are particularly effective, especially in today’s level of human awareness, which is far in advance of the general spiritual awareness of the 1930’s.

First, let’s examine why our spiritual possibilities are so much greater today…

This was a sample chapter from Owen Waters’ e-book, “Freedom of the Spirit: Four Powerful Steps to Spiritual Freedom.”

This deeply insightful e-book combines some of today’s most proven and time-tested spiritual practices into one powerful and effective package.
